Why should you choose to use cloth diapers?
Cloth diapers are better for the environment, your checkbook and most of all your baby!
Did you know that one baby in disposable diapers will contribute at least a ton of waste to landfills? Disposable diapers are the third most common consumer product tossed into landfills today and they can take up to 500 years to decompose!
This is expensive garbage we're talking about! You could be spending $1,500 to $2,000 or more on disposable diapers by the time your little one is potty trained!
Disposable diapers also contain superabsorbent polymers, other synthetics and chemicals. There is also some worry about dioxin exposure when using disposables. Dioxin is a bi-product of the paper bleaching process and trace amounts may be found in the diapers themselves. Dioxin has been shown to cause cancer, birth defects, liver damage and skin diseases. Also, a German study linked disposable diapers to testicular cancer and infertility. While more research still needs to be done it is definitely something to take into consideration.
